Stud bolts for flanges, drilling equipment and platforms
Flanges on pipelines, drilling rigs, valves, separators and process plants in oil and gas are bolted with stud bolts that must withstand pressure, salt water, hydrogen sulphide and arctic cold. RS Randack manufactures stud bolts, studs, special bolts and nuts for these applications to ASTM and to drawing, with low-temperature impact testing, anti-friction coating and inspection certificate 3.2, from the same production that supplies plant engineering and shipbuilding.

- Stud bolts with 8UN threads in ASTM A193 B7 and A320 L7 with heavy hex nuts to A194 grades 2H, 4 and 7, also in metric versions; see American threads
- Studs and hex bolts for valves, compressors and fittings in high-strength quenched and tempered steels
- Stainless and duplex versions for seawater and process media, nickel-based alloys for sour service to your specification

Requirements and documentation
- Impact energy at –46 °C and below: down to –70 °C in our own laboratory, down to –196 °C through an accredited partner laboratory
- Materials and hardness limits to customer specification, hardness testing per batch and chemical analysis in-house
- Anti-friction coating over manganese phosphate with a defined friction coefficient and high salt spray resistance, zinc flake or hot-dip galvanising; see Surface treatment
- Inspection certificate 3.2 witnessed by an inspection body, single-heat supply and marking of each part to project requirements

Approval as a material manufacturer to AD 2000 W0 and the Pressure Equipment Directive, Bureau Veritas and DNV approvals, materials laboratory with tensile testing up to 3,000 kN and low-temperature Charpy impact testing, thread rolling for UN and UNR profiles, experience with project documentation and witnessed inspections on site. Yes, with impact testing at –101 °C through an accredited partner laboratory and all other tests in our own laboratory, with A194 grade 4 or 7 heavy hex nuts.
