Packing and corrosion protection for shipping

A tested bolt is only finished when it reaches the customer undamaged and free of surface rust, and can be matched to the right order item there without searching. That is why packing and corrosion protection are defined at RS Randack as a separate operation with fixed rules.

Packing by weight and part

• Carton: up to about 20 kg, for small lots and samples.
• Wooden crate: up to about 800 kg, for long bolts and heavy individual parts, with padding between the layers.
• Mesh box and Euro pallet: up to about 1,000 kg, for larger quantities and mixed items, secured with film or strapping.
• Netting or air cushioning: for fine threads and sensitive fitted surfaces, so that the flanks do not knock against each other in transit.
• Special packaging: seaworthy packaging, individual packaging, customer crates or returnable containers as specified.

Parts from different batches never go into the same container; parts from the same material batch and the same quenching and tempering batch can be packed together on request.

Corrosion protection

Bright and phosphated parts are oiled; coated parts are packed dry and without rubbing contact. For long-term storage or sea freight, desiccants or protective film are available. The anti-corrosion oil is compatible with common assembly lubricants and can be washed off if required.

Counting, labelling, release

Each line item is counted on the counting scale and documented with a weighing slip; the label shows the order number, description, quantity and, on request, your purchase order and item number, either neutral or with RS Randack branding. Two employees sign off the packing. Goods are shipped only once quality assurance has released the certificates; paper certificates accompany the goods and digital copies are sent in advance. Delivery is by our own vehicle within the region, by freight forwarder or by collection in Hagen (FCA Hagen, Incoterms 2020).

What you should specify

Packing specification, label content, container type, delivery terms, whether you would like the certificates in advance in digital form, and whether parts are to be preserved for long-term storage.
