European raw material from approved mills

Why the origin of the steel matters to buyers
Raw material is the bar stock from which special fasteners, bolts and nuts are made. RS Randack sources it from approved European steel mills and their distributors, with a mill certificate for each heat. For buyers, this is an evaluation criterion: distributors do not hold approvals themselves; what counts is the mill behind them and whether it is recognised by the inspection bodies and codes that apply to the plant.
What a steel mill approval means
Pressure equipment codes such as AD 2000 and the Pressure Equipment Directive, classification societies and the nuclear industry only accept mill certificates from mills whose quality assurance they have assessed. For bolts to AD 2000 W7 or for shipbuilding parts, the bar stock itself must therefore come from a recognised mill. RS Randack keeps records of the mill approvals in production planning and selects the raw material for each order according to the customer’s code.
What is checked on receipt
The delivery note, purchase order and mill certificate are cross-checked, every delivery is checked for radioactivity, dimensions and surface are inspected for each bundle, material verification (PMI) with the spark spectrometer is carried out when there are several bundles, and the hardness of material supplied quenched and tempered is measured. Only then does the bundle receive its material tag and may go into production.
Stock material for rush orders
RS Randack keeps common materials and sizes in stock, above all 42CrMo4 and stainless steels. This means a rush order can start on the day it is placed, without waiting for the steel mill. Special materials such as nickel-based alloys and titanium are sourced for each order.
