What customers mean when they ask for studs and bolts, and how RS Randack supplies them
“Studs and bolts” is the term many buyers use to enquire about anything that is long, has a thread and is tightened with a nut: the hex bolt and nut as an assembly, the threaded stud with threads at both ends, the stud bolt with a continuous thread, or a bolt to drawing with collar, spigot, cross hole or eye. In hydraulic steel structures, crane construction, rolling mills, presses and wind turbines, studs and bolts are needed in sizes that no standard series covers any more: M64 x 600, M90 x 6 x 540, M110 with fine thread and lengths of one metre and more.
Types RS Randack manufactures
- Bolts with head: Hexagon, square, round head, T-head or head to drawing, forged or turned.
- Threaded studs: Threads at both ends with an unthreaded shank, as a stud or with a reduced shank to DIN 2510.
- Stud bolts: Continuous thread, metric or UN, with heavy hex nuts.
- Eye bolts and clevis bolts: For attaching tie rods, turnbuckles and ropes.
- Bolts to drawing: With collar, shoulders, cross hole, internal thread, grooves or fits, up to 300 mm diameter and 3,500 mm long.
