Threaded rods, anchor bolts and foundation bolts

Long rolled threads for foundations, tunnels, railways and plant engineering

Term explained

Long rolled threads for foundations, tunnels, railways and plant engineering

A threaded rod is a round bar threaded along its entire length; DIN 976 covers threaded studs in fixed lengths, DIN 975 the rods sold by the metre. Anchor bolts, holding-down bolts and foundation bolts are threaded rods or bolts that are cast into concrete, bonded in or bolted to anchor plates, and hold machines, columns, masts, rails or bridge bearings on the foundation. For this purpose, masonry bolts to DIN 529 have a split or upset end, and T-head anchors have a head for anchor channels. Tie rods clamp presses, vessels and frames together over long lengths.

Where RS Randack supplies them

Railway workshops and track systems, tunnel and bridge construction, foundations of turbines, compressors and presses, steel construction and infrastructure, power plants and plant engineering, nuclear technology with traceability. Typical requirements are special lengths, large diameters, property classes 4.6 to 10.9 and bolting assemblies with nuts and washers.

What characterises production

The thread is rolled by through-feed rolling, i.e. without limiting the thread length, with uninterrupted grain flow and a compacted surface; partial threads at both ends are just as possible as full-length threads. Ends are chamfered, drilled, slotted or fitted with anchor plates. For corrosion protection in soil and outdoors, the options are hot-dip galvanising with nuts to ISO 10684 or zinc flake coating. As the manufacturer, RS Randack supplies bolting assemblies for load-bearing components with CE marking to EN 15048 and a Declaration of Performance; 3.1 or 3.2 certificate as required.

What you should specify

Diameter, length and thread lengths, property class or material, end configuration, nuts and washers, surface treatment, whether CE to EN 15048 or a certificate is required, quantity and delivery date.
